Marvel BLOWS it big time! New diversity Captain America named after a mans junk! For real!

 

Marvel wants you to meet Ari Agbayani, another new Captain America! However, this time they got something seriously wrong, and it’s hilarious!

our time has come

for 300 years we prepared

marvel loves repurposing not creating

they haven’t created anything good in a

long time but one thing they sure do

love is taking

older characters and changing them

around for the

modern world and sometimes they fail so

spectacularly

the internet kind of comes together and

mocking

and making fun of them which is exactly

what’s happening right here so

if you’ve been following this uh they’ve

got some

captain america mini series coming up

where he travels around the country

and meets captain americas in every

state and so far

all of them have been pretty god-awful

but this one i’m telling you folks is

taking things and setting it to a whole

new level

everyone’s pretty united in making fun

of this tube by the way let me show you

the design

first let’s go ahead and blow this up so

it’s a

young female character she’s got a

handmade shield like

most of the other new captain americas

or whatever

where they are i don’t think they’re

ever coming back after this mini series

but there you go there’s the design

cheap little costume

nothing really like great about it

like most of the stuff they put out

lately

like most of the stuff this is going to

be in the united states of captain

america

now what’s going on here what’s so funny

well

apparently it’s the name

now this shows you just about how much

thought goes in to these

characters that are supposed to

represent people

right well

let me explain to you what they did so

the character’s name right if you

translate it

into filipino like if you take that name

you translate it

if you know filipino

it means ball sack

i’m not kidding there’s over a thousand

quote tweets where filipino people

are talking about the fact that they’ve

actually

named the character ball sack

what a story mark now i went through and

highlighted some of the responses

that this was getting i thought we could

go over a couple of them

because it’s pretty it’s pretty bad this

is a fail

this is a fail that i think

i don’t think they’ve ever had a fail

like this because it’s almost like

they went to a philippine it’s like they

went to one filipino person they’re like

yo

uh hey would be a cool name to give this

character and he’s like

uh ari okay

they did zero research on it

and just gave the character the name um

this seems to be overwhelmingly

confirmed

because i don’t know filipino i don’t

but there are plenty

in the comments hilariously laughing at

this

and also on the design and

and making fun of it in general the fact

that the character is dressed up like

this uh they’re calling her a colonizer

and talking about the history of the

philippines

in the united states and so on and so on

let me go over some of these some of

these right here

uh the philippine x can keeper we

filipinos are happy with our locally

produced and grown superheroes

got some man here laughing uh because he

was asking

what it means uh you guys know what re

means

in filipino right this man comes and

says no what’s

it mean and there’s a response that says

genitals and then he laughs

uh he says wrong spelling but you know

what i mean would have never noticed if

he didn’t say anything and most people

wouldn’t but the people that they’re

trying

to the people that are trying to impress

with this design

do know what it means and they’re

laughing it’s kind of disrespectful

and you would think that

somebody would have caught this because

they care so much about the world

outside their window

the world outside the window at marvel’s

very very important

very important stuff means a lot to the

company

and the company cares when in reality

you know what this is this is a cash

grab for clicks

okay they’re going to get all of the

media outlets got a filipino captain

america

whoa and uh

this just shows you what little

research they actually do into the

cultures

that they wanna you know appropriate for

their characters

and this is just hilarious now

there’s it’s it’s either the name ahri

either means genitals or ballsack

there’s a lot of people saying both so

i’m not 100

certain on that but it means one of the

two or something like that and that

apparently

uh is what’s making this so much funny

and it’s like they got up

somebody played a joke on them and they

just ran with it

that’s what it says right here uh you

guys do know what r means in filipino

right with a laughing face

and a think face i mean you guys could

at least give her a lupa lupa sword

because nothing about her really

represents filipino besides from

subjected filipino times uh wow you

really messed up

did you think about contributing to the

erasure of

dark-skinned filipinos because by

designing it this way it’s like you’re

doing that how many filipinos have you

guys

actually met or talked to how many would

approve of this

do better uh this person says i am phil

am hell i could consider

myself more american than filipina just

because

i am here thanks to the military i’ve

only got one

question for your design team wtf

are you doing ah yes

our new hero captain vagina not even

subtle on the name aside from her

name that seems to say genitals are

heroes hard to see

anything that makes her filipino in the

phil am combo

another dumb hero made for clicks

changed gender and race to be inclusive

without any real thought on it congrats

on the coming failure

waiting for the next return of rogers

but this is not getting a penny from

me so i was hoping that your white

target audiences

here so is hoping that your white target

audience won’t research what characters

names mean just

your brand now this is shitty as f

please never make this ever again

sincerely an

actual filipino did you all even have

filipino creators working on this

because

if you did then you know how effing tone

deaf you made her out to be

and there’s more there’s there’s so many

more

um what a failure

on marvel’s part but i thought you guys

would get a kick out of this because i

sure as hell did i thought this was

absolutely hilarious
